Transport secured!

  • January 6, 2009

Well what a speedy few weeks we have had!

Christmas was over without a hitch but Dale got a bad dose of food poisoning, or so we thought! He was right by New Year so we were off to a friends’ place to celebrate the coming year. The next day I was floored by the same bug that hit Dale.. not food poisoning but the dreaded gastro and it lingered painfully for days longer than I thought was ever bearable.

Still things to do and holidays were running out fast…so it was onto the drugs and set the focus, we collected Harold (truck mechanic) and the three of us were off to inspect a handful of transporters 4 hours out of town. Interestingly, throughout the day, people didn’t seem to notice my tight, grimaced expressions and frequent disengaged panicked moments (not again!..no,,whew.. a false threat in amongst the constant bloating – I’m sure you know what I mean). Despite the personal struggle we continued on and the first were not what we were looking for so our hopes were set on the last one on the list. It was outside of our budget but we hoped to negotiate in order to end our constant stressing on transporting issues.

Magic, it was right up our alley, passed the mechanical check and test drive and happily the owners negotiated to within our range and the deal was done. A few weekends from now and we’ll drive her home once roadworthy and transfers are completed. The truck and gooseneck has been well loved and tears were shed with the memories relived.

So that hurdle/excitement is over and reality hits back – it’s back into work mode. We have so many plans and things to organise before the show season starts… one step at a time sort of thing, enjoy the journey. I’ve dreamed of being at this point for such a long long time so everything good and bad that happens is a joy to work through without the fear of others meddling and tut tutting our passions and desires.

Duchie comes home soon, Rebel is still changing – just a few whispy strands of baby hair left, Pearl is fiesty and full of beans ready for AI we hope, the littles are still on their diet and everyone else is as they should be given it’s summer full of mozzies, flys and growing things.

2009 is shaping up nicely!
