March, April & May madness ends

Phew! It’s been fantastic, exciting, exhausting, entertaining and at times frustrating and sometimes scary but we’ve managed to move through the last 3 months and pack in the most amazing Heavy Horse Field days we’ve had the pleasure of being a part of, present a brand new Shire bloodline into Australia with the presentation of our foal Salazar, Settle into my workplace after passing my final probation and manage the property and all our beloved animals with our usual passion and dedication without going loopy.

For all those that managed to get down to the Field Days and say hello, hope the event kept you entertained and that you’ll be back next year, we appreciated your support and enjoyed showing off the clean and shiny versions of our usual grotty crew inbetween our many committee tasks over the weekend. Salazar was a star at 9 weeks he handled the crowd, the long hours, the slides grinding past, the harness jingles and clanging and the sheer number of horses all milling about with ease. When the judge requested we back up and side pass the foal and trot up and back we were gob smacked when he did all he was asked as we’d only halter trained him with the bare essentials enough to lead and float only a few days before. Salazar won all his events and did us proud.

Pearl got it easy this year having to tote the foal about in reality. Duchess is looking fabulous and only now looking that little bit pregnant around the middle at 6 months and Rebel posing as a big boy out in his roller & bridle for the very first time.

Now that all the rush and worry has passed I’ll have time to update news more frequently. Send an email and say hello if you get the time.
