Well nothing really happening. We washed Rebel and Pearl today despite Salazar helping, he’s not concerned with water but backs into Pearl literally shoving her about with his bum smearing the soap all over himself in the process or eating it. We’re not sure why he does this but he’s a very curious foal (5 & 1/2 months old now), perhaps the water dribbling off his own fur makes him want to swipe it off on mum…. was funny when he was little but now standing at 13.5hh he’s quite disruptive as he’s not deterred by shooing or having water sprayed at him.
Apart from this excitement the itch seems to be abating with all manner of treatments and creams we’ve been applying in an effort to reduce their reactions to the beastly midges, one can only hope they don’t have the same hypersensitivity come summer, it’s been a nightmare of itching for them.
Dogs have had their annual check and for 10 year olds, both are doing very well and as stated nothing much else is happening on the home front. I’ve taken this past week off to potter about the place and I have really enjoyed doing nothing more than a vague list of tasks I wanted to do. But it’s over now and it’s back to work tomorrow… sigh, no lottery winnings to extend the break sadly.
AGM next week for the CHHFD so that consumes us for the moment as does grant applications and letters of support before the end of the month. We’ve had a few enquiries for Rebel but nothing concrete at this stage and with Salazar coming of age soon we might look at selling him as well. Duchess is due in October so that will be our next milestone at Deacons Gate Shires.
Later J
