AI lottery

Well first go… was disappointing, a dud straw, wasted effort and expenditure and not worth writing out the details…… so we are currently in the throws of a second round of AI.  Pearl and Reb’s are away again much to Duchess’s dismay.  Good news is that the pair of them walked onto the truck in 2 seconds, bloody amazing given the grief she gave us first time.

Now that we have transport the options for 2010 season means we can hopefully book Pearl in with Spitfire out at Bundaberg.  However, we’ve committed to AI this year and that includes the roller coaster ride of disapointment, expectation and hope.  Fingers crossed Pearl comes home pregnant this time.

Finally got my truck learners test done and have my first lesson on Friday.  This is our only hurdle now to being fully independent in transporting our horses around.  Finding a driver each time we need to move the horses is a trial I can tell you.  Also planning to lift the roof of the trailer as Duchess just won’t fit at the moment being so tall, but this will have to wait till after Pearl and Rebel come home.

Gatton Heavy Field Day is looming as is Esk and Brisbane.  We are waiting on our ribbons to arrive so that we can practise plaiting.  Hopefully we are organised but without any show experience to draw from … who knows.  2009 is going to be a huge learning curve so we’ve decided to just participate and have fun…. Being surrounded by others of like mind and giving it a go will be enough work to start with.

Our baby is 5 and a half months old now…

Duchess is settled now but missing Rebel and Pearl.
